About the event
Maximising capacity and driving interoperability
The European rail network is operating at close to maximum capacity. Traditional signalling and train control systems limit the frequency of trains and hamper interoperability. This results in high costs and an inefficient use of network capacity. With increasing passenger and freight traffic, these problems must be solved.
Rail infrastructure managers and train operating companies must overcome numerous challenges. Performance requirements and safety targets are high. These projects are costly, budgets are tight and there is no room for error – they must deliver on their promised benefits. What’s more, these projects must be delivered without disrupting existing services.
Rail infrastructure managers and train operating companies must work together to understand each other’s needs. They must analyse system and performance requirements to identify common migration specifications and system integration strategies. Infrastructure sub-systems, rolling stock and operational procedures must be aligned to achieve success.
The successful integration of advanced moving block signalling and communications based train control systems will reduce maintenance and lifecycle costs, and deliver increased safety, efficiency and speed. The result is an increase in network capacity, offering rail infrastructure managers and train operating companies greater revenue generating potential.
Signalling & Train Control 2010 will bring together senior signalling and train control managers and project leaders from rail infrastructure managers, train operating companies and suppliers. The industry’s leading innovators will discuss system requirements, technology selection and implementation and testing.
Specialised content for signalling and train control professionals
